Whitaker Contracting Awards

We continue to build recognition in the Alabama construction industry as a leader in the areas of innovative paving construction and operational excellence. Over the years, we have been the recipient of many of the industry’s awards.


The Alabama Asphalt Pavement Association at its 48th Annual Installation luncheon December 14th, 2007, introduced David Reed of Whitaker Contracting Corporation in Guntersville to serve as the President. Mr. Reed had been elected also in 1991 as President and served one year. The Association also presented Quality Pavement Awards to those members selected for outstanding effort in construction of roadway projects. The AAPA Awards program rates pavement based on what the riding public sees and feels; joints and surface texture.

In the Two Lane Highway Resurfacing category, member firm Whitaker Contracting Corporation, Guntersville, Alabama was selected the winner. The winning project was S.R. 40 in Jackson County. Company representatives were presented with a plaque recognizing their selection.

Also recognized was the Alabama Department of Transportation-1st Division for their design and construction administration of the project.

The Alabama Asphalt Pavement Association is a non-profit trade association established in 1959 to encourage the use of asphalt as a paving material and to further continue improvement in quality and workmanship.
